Speech is an activity governed by the Minnesota State High School League. There are thirteen categories of competition ranging from humor to current events. Script writing or selection begins after Thanksgiving break; team practice begins after Christmas break. Competition begins the first Saturday in February and culminates with the State Tournament in mid-April.
