Finance Committee Budget Reduction Proposal & Community Meeting

Albany Area Schools is committed to being transparent with our community as we work through the district's financial planning for the 2026-2027 school year (FY27). Linked below is a Finance Committee Budget Reduction Proposal that is being shared to help community members understand the district's current financial situation and the types of reductions and adjustments being considered.

Finance Committee Budget Reduction Proposal

This document outlines the background behind the district's current budget challenges, including a structural imbalance of approximately $1.2 million between revenue and expenses, and reviews a draft proposal that targets approximately $1 million in savings through a balanced approach (personnel adjustments, non-salary reductions, and limited revenue opportunities). Importantly, this proposal focuses on categories and estimated impacts and does not include specific positions, contracts, services, or programs.

Please note: the School Board has not taken any action at this time. This proposal is still under review, and the current discussion is part of an information-sharing and study process. No final decisions have been made.

We also want to emphasize that community voice is an important part of the decision-making process. Your questions, concerns, and feedback matter, and they help guide the Board as it considers next steps.

Thank you for taking the time to review this information and for being an active partner in shaping the future of Albany Area Schools.
