Slowing down our breathing and taking deep breaths is one of the most powerful tools we have for calming down. It helps our muscles relax and it helps to turn back on the parts of the brain that power down when we get upset. This, in turn, allows us to express ourselves better and make better decisions. It can be helpful to use the following videos to help us breath properly.

Progressive Muscle Relaxation

If your stress is building up fast, all you might have time to do is to quickly stretch your neck and shoulders or clench and unclench your fists while you take a few deep breaths.

Progressive relaxation is a technique used to help you release the tension and stress you are holding in your body. It is designed to help your body feel more relaxed and calm. This technique will have you slowly tense and relax each muscle.
